About the event

Celebrating and honouring some of the most iconic protest songs of the last 70 years, this show re invents the soundtrack to some of the 20th centuries most important and historic moments.

The Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, the apartheid era of South Africa, the environment, class struggle, and our own story of colonisation, as the new world collided head on with the oldest culture on the planet.

It is often said that these songs 'changed the world', and yet we see the same repeated history today. This connection to the current state of the world brings power to the songs and to the topics in a fresh and real way.

Revolution. A Night of Protest Songs travels through time, exploring our relationship with truth and social justice, through the mirror of self reflection, and the art of songwriting.

Featuring songs by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Peter Gabriel, John Lennon, Pete Seeger and more, they are performed by south coast local, and internationally acclaimed blues artist Frank Sultana.

Frank has been a mainstay on the Australian Blues scene since his debut in 2011, releasing over a dozen albums and developing a reputation as a fine songwriter , musician, and an exceptional vocalist.

In January of 2023 in a field of 160 acts, Frank competed in and won the prestigious Memphis International Blues Challenge , becoming only the 3rd artist outside of North America to do so in the events 40 year history.

He returned to Australia and scooped the Sydney Blues Society Awards taking home Best Traditional Blues, Artists Choice, Best Songwriter and Artist of the year. He followed that up in 2024 by again taking home the award for Best Songwriter.

He continues to grace the stages of the biggest festivals in the country and has returned to the US festival circuit, on two more occasions, since his historic win.

This show has played to sold out venues on the south coast in 2024, including the Merrigong Theatre in Wollongong. It is an unforgettable experience and a reminder of the fragile resilience of the human spirit reflected through some of the most important and influential songs ever written.
