What is a Spiegeltent Season?

 

A Spiegeltent is a Belgium tent made of wood. They were traditionally used as dance halls. They are now used as pop up theatres at festivals and events.

 

The Season we are having in the Spiegeltent is a program of shows running for a month in conjunction with Kiama’s Revel in May. The Kazador, as the spiegeltent is named will function as a Hub for the community during this celebratory month-long event.

 

Think mini-Fringe Arts Festival.

Think big city quality entertainment on your doorstep – Vince Sorrenti and Mic Conway. Think TV names – Gary Eck and Peter Berner, Radio stars -Tommy Dean and Mandy Nolan. Think risqué festival shows with Australia’s Queen of Burlesque Imogen Kelly and the International Boyelsque sensation Club Briefs… ohhh yeah.

 

Think a bar with great snack food from the Pines and other local gems.

 

The fun doesn’t stop with our high-end program of knock your socks of Comedy, Theatre, Circus and Variety. We have musical greats from all the genres like Ana De La Vega and Daniel Roehn, Joe Mungovan. Plus, family entertainment with the fabulous Dr Hubbles Bubbles and Liam Power Magic and a glorious program of Mother’s day treats, including Kiki’s 80’s dance party for Dad and the kids – leave Mum in peace.

 

The tent isn’t only about entertaining Kiama and its visitors, it is also here for you to get involved. Attend the clothes swap party and show off your sustainable side. Take a free form, 80’s inspired dance class and boogy like nobody is watching. Get social at Friday Arvo Wine down with some music and a chat (this one is free). Listen to other people’s stories with great interviews and author talks or take a workshop. Or try your hand on stage in one of the Open Mic’s.
